Our mission at Drs. Rani & Suraj is to expand the concept of Mental Wealth beyond the health industry by helping create Mental Wealth Conscious leaders, teams, and organisations. This past week, I had the pleasure of facilitating a one-day workshop for the brilliant team at ChardWatch CIC. Together, we explored the principles of the Inner Blue Sky (Mental Wealth) and the concept of Being — two transformative ideas that can elevate how we approach mental health and leadership.
A special thanks to Julie Matthews, the CEO of ChardWatch CIC, for her dedication to bringing the Mental Wealth paradigm into her organisation. Julie’s leadership is a testament to the impact this way of thinking can have on individuals and teams. And let’s not forget the amazing food she organised for the day!
Exploring the Inner Blue Sky
Our discussions centred around Mental Wealth, which is all about seeing beyond the noise of the mind to the clarity and potential that lies within each of us — what I call the Inner Blue Sky. This simple yet profound perspective allows individuals to approach challenges from a place of inner calm and understanding.
One powerful insight from the day came from a participant’s definition of deep listening:
“Listening beyond the words (noise) to the music in the background (the essence of who we truly are).”
Pure GOLD, as I’d say! It perfectly captured the essence of what deep, authentic communication and connection are all about — seeing beyond the surface and recognising the deeper truths within us all.
Taking Mental Wealth Forward
During the workshop, I shared an audio on the difference between Expectations and Agreements, created by the renowned coach Steve Chandler. This key takeaway was an invitation for each participant to reflect and put these principles into practice in their daily lives. As we discussed, when we shift from holding rigid expectations to making clear agreements, we open the door to more honest and compassionate communication.
We’ve embarked on a journey to transform ChardWatch into a Mental Wealth Conscious Organisation. This transformation begins with each individual asking themselves, “Who do I need to BE to foster this change?” and “What mindset and skills are required to lead with awareness and compassion?”
A New Beginning
Today marked the beginning of something new and exciting for ChardWatch CIC. At the end of the workshop, each participant received a copy of my book, “How to Turn Stress on Its Head.” More importantly, they committed to reading it and sharing the insights they gained. This was an agreement, not an expectation — an important distinction we explored during the workshop.
The curiosity and engagement from the ChardWatch team were inspiring, and I look forward to continuing this journey of Mental Wealth with them. It’s through these conversations and commitments that real, meaningful change begins.
Together, we are fostering a culture of Mental Wealth Conscious Leadership, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.
Warm regards,
Rani
